It was a great day for the SDHS annual Job Fair! Hoping our community businesses will be able to fill all of their vacancies. Worcester County Public Schools will open one-hour late today, Wednesday, April 3, due to foggy conditions. Buses will operate accordingly. All school programs will begin following the one-hour delay.

Meet Marie Stevenson, Stephen Decatur High School's Teacher of the Year, who we'll be celebrating at the annual Teacher of the Year Celebration on April 4. With a B.S.Ed. in English and Secondary Education from West Chester University, Marie Stevenson pursued her master’s degree in Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum from Drexel University. She has been an educator for twenty-five years, with twelve years teaching English at Stephen Decatur High School. To ensure the development of the whole child, she strives to build connections with students beyond the curriculum and empowers them to harness technology for current and future success. Stevenson serves as a Grow Your Own mentor, Leo Club advisor, Apple Vanguard teacher, and a member of SIP, PBIS, and the WCPS committee for Artificial Intelligence.

Presenting our national presenters! We could not be any prouder of these two motivated, academic-minded, and trailblazing seniors, Simran Jain and Rowan Wilkins, who worked months preparing a presentation before the annual Secondary School Writing Centers Association Conference at UMass Boston. Jain and Wilkins, both leaders for the Stephen Decatur High School Seahawk Writing Center (SWC), compiled evidence-based documentation regarding the successes and challenges of running a high school writing center. Moving forward, the two are also looking to publish their findings. The Seahawk Writing Center will celebrate its 10 year anniversary next year.
