Well, it was an early morning wake-up call 📣 for Principal Sites, complete with a barking dog at 4AM, as members of the senior class decided to do a little sunrise tailgate . . . at his house! 🌞 Gotta love a good #SeniorClassPrank!
After the initial shock, the wee hours were filled with a lot of laughter, great conversations, and even an invitation inside. Great kids, great Principal! 😄

A fabulous trio named Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore 18 Under 18! 👏👏👏
Three cheers and a triple BIG congratulations to senior Kirby Bounds, junior Gannon Eastlack, and freshman Carly Watts on their selections to the prestigious program that recognizes top young local leaders for innovation, service, and academic achievement. As scholars in the classroom, multi-sport athletes, and dedicated community volunteers, all three represent the best at Stephen Decatur High School. 💙🖤🤍
Following graduation this coming May, Bounds plans to attend the Honors College at Hood College to major in biology and play softball. She aspires to become a high school teacher while continuing her service to the community as a certified paramedic.
Eastlack’s plans include collegiate sports and pursuing a degree in engineering, where he intends to combine analytical thinking with creativity to solve real-world challenges.
Watts, who is now finishing up a very busy and successful 9th grade year, has her sights set on a career in speech pathology, which will combine her passion for helping children and young adults with disabilities with her strong interest in communication, language development, and making a meaningful difference in others’ lives.
The Stephen Decatur High School community and the public are invited to celebrate our fabulous and talented three at the Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore “18 Under 18” Awards Ceremony on May 18, 2026, at 5PM at the Junior Achievement Center in Salisbury.
Tickets and Student Recognition Sponsorships are live and available to purchase now. Visit https://www.easternshoreja.org/events for more information.

Our After Prom is one of the most important events of the year because it gives our students a safe, fun, and unforgettable way to celebrate together after a milestone night, creating memories that will stay with them long after high school ends.
Stephen Decatur High School After Prom is coming up on Saturday, May 16th, and we need YOUR help to make it happen! 🎉
After Prom is one of the most beloved traditions for our kids. A night full of music, friends, games, incredible raffle prizes, and tons of food, where our kids can keep the celebration going in a safe, fun environment. And year after year, it's our amazing community that makes it all possible. 💙
We are looking for:
✅ Parent Volunteers, we NEED you!
🍕 Food Donations
🎁 Raffle Prize & General Donations
Thanks to the generosity of our local businesses and community members, these kids seriously clean up with the raffle prizes. It's one of the highlights of the night! But none of it happens without hands, hearts, and a little giving spirit from people like YOU.
To donate: drop off at the Main Office, attn: Mr. Purnell
For food donations or to volunteer: DM us to arrange pickup, drop-off, or to sign up!
Let's show our seniors how much this community loves them. Share this post and help us spread the word! 🙌

It’s always a beautiful day to take care of our beautiful Earth, so that’s what we did! ❤️🌊🌎
Our #EarthWeek celebrations culminated with the big campus clean-up, sponsored by the Surfrider Club, and the results were incredible. We collected over 110 pounds of trash, everything from everyday litter to a broken folding table (yes, it’s true!).
More than just the numbers, this was about showing up for our shared spaces. Every piece of trash removed is one less harmful toxin in our environment.
Huge thanks to everyone who volunteered, got their hands dirty, and made a real impact. Let’s keep the momentum going. Earth Week might be over, but caring for our planet is a year-round commitment. 🌱✨
And remember, Stephen Decatur High School is a #MarylandGreenSchool!

Making the news…🗞️
Huge thanks to Salisbury University for rolling out the red carpet for our Communication Arts students and hosting them to a “Major for a Day” experience. 🎤✨
The sessions blended practical know-how with thoughtful takes on today’s news landscape. The day was packed with insights and hands-on learning that gave students the opportunity to experience the energy of being on a broadcast set.
Students left with sharper skills, bigger ideas, and maybe even a few future career plans.💡
Our Communication Arts program is run by Mr. Dj Thompson.
