ATTENTION DUAL ENROLLMENT PARENTS:
Have questions about Dual Enrollment? We’re here to help!
Wor-Wic Community College will be hosting a Zoom meeting for Dual Enrollment parents to answer your questions and provide helpful information about the program.
This is a great opportunity to get your questions answered and make sure you and your student are prepared for a successful Dual Enrollment experience.
We hope to see you there! 🎓

A HUGE “THANK YOU” to our community! 🫶
Again, we want to express our appreciation to parents, families, and community members who came out to support us at our back-to-school Community Bash last week!
We loved seeing so many families come together and connect in support of our school.
And, of course, congratulations to our raffle winners! 🏆🎟️ We hope you enjoy your prizes!
Lastly, thank you to Premier Driving School, Stephen Decatur Athletic Boosters, Worcester County Recreation & Parks, & Kona Ice of Worcester for the giveaways and other goodies!

On this Friday, there’s a need for speed! 🏎️
Students in Everett Evansky’s Physical Science classes experienced acceleration firsthand, using ramps under various conditions to study the laws of motion. Students then created 3-D bar graphs to demonstrate correlations after analyzing data in Excel. 📈
Math, science, technology, and critical thinking at its finest!

Hey seniors! 📣
More information coming your way. . .
College visits begin next week, starting with the University of Alabama! See Mr. Hall in Guidance for information.

Fridays are the best with awesome colleagues, fellowship, and an administration-sponsored cook-out! 🍔🌭
Have a fantastic weekend everyone!

Listen Up Seniors! 📣
The fall season brings crisp, cool mornings, bright colors, and pumpkin everything.
It also brings college applications, but you don’t have to go at them alone. Your school counselors will be on hand and ready to help you. 🍎
Plan your calendars now! 🗓️

Excellence recognized. 👏
Congratulations to senior Tyler Kim on earning the distinction of National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) Semifinalist!
With this impressive distinction, Kim is among approximately 1% of the nation’s top high school seniors. Kim will now vie for one of the coveted NMSC scholarships, which will be offered this coming spring.
Over 1.2 million juniors in approximately 20,000 high schools across the nation entered the 2027 NMSC program by taking the 2025 PSAT, which served as an initial screen of program entrants.
At Stephen Decatur High School, Kim is a member of multiple honor societies, including the National Honor Society, Science Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society. He serves as captain of both the Science Olympiad team and the Math Club, where he has won multiple regional tournaments. In addition to National Merit Semifinalist, Kim is a straight A student and a College Board AP Scholar with Distinction, who will have taken 11 Advanced Placement courses by graduation. Following high school, Kim plans to combine his love for math and chemistry and possibly major in chemical engineering.

When every second counts….
Stephen Decatur High School students will know what to do thanks to Officer McCauley from Maryland Natural Resources Police, who visited classrooms today to talk about and demonstrate first aid.
We’re grateful for his time and expertise—and for helping our Seahawks be prepared to lend a helping hand when it matters most!

This week is National Suicide Prevention Week.
Did you know we have a Morgan’s Message 🦋chapter on campus? We support athletes and non-athletes with their mental health journey, recognizing that we all need extra support at times and . . . it’s okay to not be okay.
Find the people you can trust to have real conversations with and know when to look beyond them to the professionals, especially when things feel extra difficult!
The Stephen Decatur High School counseling office can help and are available to help you.
